The Onion

Often touted as the world's best satirical newspaper, The Onion has started to sprout videos which are making their way on to YouTube. The first is a terrifically funny angle on immigrants taking American jobs...

Politics

It seemed like such an obvious idea... why hadn't anyone tried it before? Peter Kavanagh was the first candidate in an Australian election to use YouTube in his campaign. Many followed, of course, and several of them with much jazzier editing and production values. Political parties with enough money to be able to ignore YouTube put their ads up as well, wanting to get in on the act. It was a simple way for the DLP to start changing the public perception of it as a spent force in politics. The entire communications and media campaign to elect Peter to the Victorian parliament in November 2006 cost $40.00, the price of a licence for Quicktime, to do a simple edit in the movie.
